Coming Out of the..

I came home one evening to find my children’s nanny stepping out of the shower, her hair still wet. She claimed our daughter had spilled milk on her, and she showered while the kids were napping. I felt uncomfortable and told her, “I still don’t think it’s appropriate for you to shower in my home.” But she brushed off my concerns.

What shocked me more was my husband’s reaction. He appeared in the living room and sided with the nanny, dismissing my feelings. Something didn’t sit right with me, especially since my husband was supposed to be at work.

The next day, I secretly set up a nanny cam. Not long after leaving, I saw my husband, who had supposedly gone to work, return home and approach the nanny. My heart dropped, and I rushed home, expecting the worst. Instead, I found him cooking in the kitchen.

When I confronted him, he confessed that he’d been fired a week ago due to downsizing. Too embarrassed to tell me, he had been pretending to go to work but was instead coming home to look for jobs and help with the kids. The incident with the nanny? “A simple accident,” he explained. He had been there when our daughter spilled milk on the babysitter, so he told her to shower while he watched over the kids.

The truth left me shocked, but at least it wasn’t the affair I had feared.
